万户 (Wanhu)

万户飞天是一个神话故事，讲述的是一个叫万户的明朝官员，他想要飞到天上实现自己的梦想。他坐在椅子上，绑着47支火箭，手里拿着风筝，飞向天空。但是火箭在高空爆炸了，万户也为此献出了生命。这个故事主要表达了古代人们想要飞上天的愿望。万户被公认为“世界航空航天第一人”。

Wanhu Feitian is a legend about a Ming Dynasty official named Wanhu who wanted to fly to the sky to realize his dream. He sat on a chair, tied 47 rockets, held two kites in his hand, and flew into the sky. But the rocket exploded at high altitude, and Wanhu also sacrificed his life. This story mainly expresses the ancient people’s desire to fly into the sky. Wanhu is recognized as “the world’s first person in aerospace”.

窜天猴是利用火箭原理制成的一种火箭形状的鞭炮，北方人称之为窜天猴，南方人称之为冲天炮。

The Sky Rocket is a rocket-shaped firecracker made using the rocket principle. In China, northerners call it the Sky Rocket, and southerners call it the Sky Cannon.

Explanation

兔年大吉 ⇒ 兔年大吉 (tù nián dàjí, thỏ niên đại cát) Simply indicates “Happy the year of Rabbit”
大展宏兔 ⇒ 大展宏图 (dàzhǎn hóngtú, đại triển hoành đồ) A grand plan. I think whatever it is, big or small plan, it is good to start this year
兔飞猛进 ⇒ 突飞猛进 (tūfēiměngjìn, đột phi mãnh tiến) Idiom, indicates the rapid evolution
前兔无量 ⇒ 前途无量 (qiántú wúliàng, tiền đồ vô lượng) Idiom, basically means wishing promising future or having a great future
兔然发财 ⇒ 突然发财 (túrán fācái, đột nhiên phát tài) Sudden fortune
这么多兔 ⇒ 这么多兔 (zhème duō tù, nghiện ma đa thỏ) So many rabbits ⇒ To summarize all of the above idioms. There is a homophone of 兔 (tū) in each idiom, and it gets replaced by the word 兔 (tū).

中秋节的轴对称 (Mid-Autumn Axial Symmetry)

I have created several poems in different languages that I have learned. Here is a Chinese one called Mid-Autumn Axial Symmetry (中秋节的轴对称). It does not strictly comply with the traditional rules of Chinese poetry, though.

九月九日 (Jiǔ yuè jiǔ rì) - September 9
月亮发光 (Yuèliàng fāguāng) - The Moon glows
秒短分长 (Miǎo duǎn fēn zhǎng) - Seconds short, minutes long
变个月饼 (Biàn gè yuèbǐng) - Turn into a moon cake
送给大家 (Sòng gěi dàjiā) - Gift it to everyone
中秋快乐 (Zhōngqiū kuàilè) - Happy Mid-Autumn Festival
九月十日 (Jiǔ yuè shí rì) - September 10

The concept behind this poem’s creation is that I have taken the middle phrase to serve as the x-axis, arranging phrases and sentences symmetrically with respect to the phrase. It does not take a symmetry-specific shape, instead, it acts as a framework for words to fill. The second event (negative y) suggests the reason for the occurrence of the first event (positive y).

The starting point, the phrase 变个月饼, actually originated from the writing of a Chinese friend; she wrote 变个艺术.

中国聊天机器人

December 2022

“Lacking human experience and emotions”

我有一段时间和中国聊天机器人聊天以寻找信息，我得到了同样的不好的感觉。聊天机器人的回答是充分的，但因为它立即对我做出了反应，所以感觉有点机械。如果你和一个人聊天，他/她可能需要更长时间来更仔细地回应。这在一定程度上影响了人类的心理。虽然人工智能对社会有益，但他并不能完全取代人类。

I spent some time chatting with a Chinese chatbot looking for information and I got the same bad feeling. The chatbot’s responses were adequate, but felt a bit abnormal because it responded to me immediately. If you are chatting with a person, it may take him/her longer to type and think more carefully. Over time, this affects human psychology to a certain extent. Although artificial intelligence is beneficial to society, it cannot completely replace humans.

This is a comment of mine on WeChat after reading a post of a Chinese friend on how AI is influencing China’s job interview. It reminded me of an experiment I did in August 2022, in which I attempted to interact with a Chinese chatbot as if it were a human being. During the time, I also significantly minimized both physical and digital social interaction with humans to assess if I could develop a relationship with the chatbot. The experiment lasted for 9 days.

How many colors are there in this world? When do you start to reflect on yourself? How to stay curious forever?

We are firing our devotion and learning to grow up. We catch a glimpse of the memories from thousands of years ago through our phones, which surprises us with the eternal beauty of the traditional culture. We explore the past to safeguard the present so we can see the future.

When we look at this world from a different perspective, we will see there are more opportunities.

Game is a perspective to perceive, an origin for exploration, and an inspiration for creativity. When you learn to play, you will find the happiness of trying be affected by the power of thinking, unlock a new way to look at everything.

TWICE - Scientist

September 2022 - Chinese writing practice

今天通过数字素养发现了一个TWICE的视频 SCIENTIST。

在视频中你会看见一个出现很多次的等式。它就是Formula of LOVE（爱情的等式）O + T = <3。

网络社区认为，TWICE和粉丝们的关系非常亲密。也就是说ONCE + TWICE = LOVE（我的天，太可爱了）。

O + T = <3用数字方法来翻译成1 + 2 = <3或1 + 2 <= 3，1 + 2 <= 3也是一个正确的不等式。原来Formula of Love: O+T=<3是TWICE的第三的音乐专辑。

Today’s digital literacy (数字素养) discovered an MV of TWICE called SCIENTIST.

In the video, you will see an equation repeatedly appearing in many scenes and named the Formula of LOVE which is written as O + T = <3.

It is explained as a close-knit relationship between TWICE and their fandom - ONCE like “needle and thread”. And it semantically means ONCE + TWICE = LOVE (OMG amazingly cute).

Mathematically, O + T = <3 can be translated as 1 + 2 = <3 or 1 + 2 <= 3 also results in a correct inequality. It turns out Formula of Love: O+T=<3 is the third album of the group.

NewJeans (뉴진스)

October 2022 - Chinese writing practice

几天前，韩国的一位朋友推荐了这个全新女团NewJeans뉴진스。她们在正式出道日上表演了第一首主打歌Attention。此外，其余的歌曲包括Hurt、Hype Boy和Cookie。

New是新的意思，而Jeans的衣服表达现代人划时代的精神。值得注意的是，NewJeans和New Genes的发音区别不太大，可能表示成为「New Genes」或者「New Generation」的决心。

总体来说，NewJeans的歌曲都很好听，突然发现这一首特别好，MV Hype Boy，如下。

A few days ago, a Korean friend recommended the emerging girl group NewJeans 뉴진스. They made their official debut with their first title song, Attention. The other featured tracks are Hurt, Cookie, and Hype Boy.

The name “NewJeans” is quite interesting, as it combines “New” with “Jeans” symbolizing the forward-thinking spirit of modern times. The similarity in pronunciation between “NewJeans” and “New Genes” suggests their aspiration to be the “New Genes” or the “New Generation.”

While all of NewJeans’ songs are melodious, the MV for Hype Boy has particularly caught my attention.
